NEWS RELEASE 9 March 2001 The Internet is for Everyone! 2001/02 ISOC-AU Welcomes ICANN The Internet Society of Australia today welcomed members of the global Internet community to Australia for the meetings of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN being held in Melbourne from 10 to 13 March 2001. 'Attracting the meeting to Australia has been a major achievement for the organising committee because it will allow Australians to gain an understanding of the international domain names process first hand', said Tony Hill Executive Director of ISOC-AU and Chair or the Organising Committee. A media briefing will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre at 10am on Saturday, 10 March 2001 in the media interview room (Howqua 1). This briefing will follow the ICANN orientation workshop.
