ISOC-AU, ac3, Smart Internet, and GrangeNet hosted the forum Designing the Future 2005 in Sydney on Wednesday 6th April 2005, which focussed on the implications of massive Internet bandwidth for business, medicine, education, communities and the IT industry.
DTF'05 was the definitive portrayal of the evolving global Internet in 2005, showcasing the imminent developments going mainstream over the next few years. Our speakers had a vast range of experience exploring massive bandwidth in the real world, from remote diagnostics to black holes, from new networks to entertainment and hyperculture.
The entire event was successfully broadcast over the Internet using the Access Grid ("video-conferencing on steroids"). We wrapped up with a live concert over the Access Grid with a difference: jazz musicians in far-apart cities playing together beautifully.
With many thanks to to our speakers for their thoughtful contributions, and to our sponsors - Cisco, Intel, Optus, Powertel and DCITA - for supporting such an interesting event!
